New default document generation method from release 2025-01

MSR has had a new generation method for document type for some time now. Because the new method is preferred, it will be made the default method as of Feature Update 2025-01.

We have had a new generation method for document type for some time now. The new method, which handles the XML data required to generate documents differently, is preferred because it is more efficient and faster. We want to make this the default method from the first release in 2025 (Feature Update 2025-01).

The old method will be phased out, which means that all new document types will always be generated using the new method from that point on. You will have to convert document types for which the new method has not yet been enabled, with our help of course. We’ll explain what has to be done later, in Feature Update 2025-01.

You can start using the new method right away by enabling the field Use New Generation Method and then re-adding the document type template. Below is a brief explanation. Repeat this process for each document type for which you want to enable the new method.

How to convert document types to the new method yourself

  • Step 1:  Go to document type, document type template, Related tab. Click on the file to download it. You will have to re-upload the file in step 3.

  • Step 2: Go to the document type and check the box for Use New Generation Method:

  • Step 3: Go to document type, document type template, Related tab. Click Upload files to re-upload the document downloaded in step 1:

  • After you upload the document, an additional (XML) file will appear. You may have to refresh the screen first:

This lets you check whether the option was activated properly. You can delete the old document template attachment if you wish.
