No more unnecessary tasks after sending an e-mail or text message

Sending an e-mail or text message no longer creates unnecessary tasks, helping you cut down on Salesforce data storage. MSR-1012 | Nov 2024

Who is this feature for?

All users will benefit from this improvement.

The benefits at a glance

  • With less data storage needed, you are less likely to run into storage limits.

What has been changed?

In the past, sending an e-mail or text message would create two types of tasks:

  1. A task of the 'E-mail' or 'SMS' subtype. Salesforce uses these tasks to show e-mails or texts in the activity timeline.
  2. A 'Mail Batch Summary' or 'SMS Batch Summary' task to indicate that the e-mail or text message was sent successfully.

Seeing as the second type of task had no added value, it will not be created anymore. Only the 'Email' or 'SMS' tasks will be created. This will help limit file size, making you less likely to run into storage limits.

You can also delete tasks of the types Mail Batch Summary or SMS Batch Summary to save even more space. Make sure to check that your reports do not refer to these tasks first. You can change this as needed by referring to the other type of task.
