Sorting columns in custom list views

The manner in which column settings are saved has been completely redesigned. This will resolve various oft-reported issues with columns and sorting. As part of this redesign, we are also adding new functionalities. MSR-524 | May 2024

Clarification of this new feature

The manner in which column settings are saved has been completely overhauled. Think of selected columns, the order of columns and the width of each column. This will resolve various reported issues with regard to columns and their sorting. As part of this update, we are also adding new functionalities. 

New:

• You can search by field name in the column selector.
• In the column selector, the fields are classified under a heading with the object name.
• The object name is shown in the column header for related fields. This provides more context. For example: Creation date (Person)
• Column header names are based on the field label; these are no longer fixed.
• Your column choices are saved for every individual context (e.g. all Match List record types).
• Column orders and widths are saved for every individual user.
• For new users, the standard columns have been optimized for every context.

Conversion

All existing column selections are converted to the new standard for all existing individual users. The order of the columns may not entirely match your preferred order. You can easily restore your preferred order by rearranging the columns one time.
